He said between June and the time they were arrested, the two are suspected to have been terrorising Sunda, Hamdam, Pyrus and Malikebu cottages where they are suspected to have stolen household items valued at over K2 million.

“Inquiries were instituted and after a tip-off from the public, the suspects were arrested. Their arrest led to the recovery of 30 mattresses, one mini fridge, three televisions, two amplifiers, four DVD players, 13 blankets, 16 curtains, 20 bed sheets and a car radio, among others,” he said.

The two are expected to appear before court to answer charges of breaking into a building and committing a felony therein which is contrary to Section 311 of the Penal Code.

Moffat comes from Njobvu Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Ngabu in Chikwawa while Kamangira comes from Namachuwa Village, T/A Maseya in the same district. n
