According to chairperson of the organising committee at MPS Richard Luhanga, Malawi is expected to send 81 athletes to participate in football, netball, darts, volleyball, chess, among others.

“For us to foot all the logistics, we need K23 million ($51 111). We are appealing to the corporate world and individuals to contribute something towards our trip. We welcome financial and material contributions such as sports equipment,” said Luhanga in an interview. The games in Swaziland will last two weeks.

“We are aiming for gold in all the sports disciplines since we are taking strong teams in all the sports disciplines. We plan to take the entire Blue Eagles team and also Eagles Sisters netball team. It is important that we do well this time around,” said Luhanga.

Royal Swaziland Police national deputy commissioner Sipho Dlamin, who is responsible for organising the games, said the events seek to create a platform for police officers to engage in fruitful interaction, share ideas on police traditions, norms and values so as to foster friendship, understanding and cooperation through sports.

“The Kingdom of Swaziland has never hosted this event before. We are more determined to give out the most memorable games ever,” said Dlamin in an interview with Times of Swaziland on Friday.
