After two weeks of entertainment starvation, which came as a result of the political impasse, Gides Chalamanda in collaboration with acoustic duo Edgar ndi Davis rescued Blantyre fun-lovers as the trio performed at Blue Elephant on Saturday.

The patrons sigh of relief from the long wait for a president and entertainment was expressed through their dance moves and chants.

Dressed in a black three-piece suit and a cap flipped backwards, Gides was the first to perform on stage with the support of his son Criss, who played the acoustic guitar.

The octogenarian performed his hit song, Buffalo Soldier and a cover rendition of Barry Paseli’s Napolo, among other hits, but it was Linney which saw the audience chant Chala m’mwamba! Chala m’mwamba! instead of Chalamanda! Chalamanda!

Edgar ndi Davis hoped on stage and performed Energy Saver, Kale and Agides which got the same reaction from the audience as Chalamanda’s Linney.

The duo made their performance memorable as they read the audience and went with the flow.

Ntchito Zina nzopweteketsa…ntchito ina ndi ya u MEC Chair went the verse on the song Energy Saver.

Edgar ndi Davis then invited Gides Chalamanda who danced to the song that pays homage to him and his artistry.

The show was spiced by dance routine by Floor Steppers whose choreography got better with their choice of songs. Some songs that attracted people’s attention were the Airtel Money jingle and the Zokonda Amayi theme song.
