Prison Sisters’ OG Issa leadership under threat

Listen to this article

Prison Sisters’ leadership of the OG Issa Southern Region Netball League (SRNL) goes through stern test today as defending champions Complex Tigresses narrow fixture-gap at Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC).

The sisters are at the summit of the 12-team table with 12 points from five games, but their strong stand on top of the ladder might be swept off feet if high-scoring Tigresses win their games against Shizaella Queens and Chitakale Sisters.

Tigresses, who earned 150-0 bonus victory over Gold Sisters and beat Aquaid Queens 110-14 last weekend, are third on the table with six points from two games.

On Saturday, MTL Queens will also seek a breakthrough into the top-three band on the ladder as they face Gerald Tasaukadala Sisters in their third game of the season while Diamonds will be on a similar mission on Sunday when they take on Airwing Sisters.

Both Queens and Diamonds have won their respective two games and their probable victories this weekend will push them to nine points apiece. Shizaella Queens are currently third with nine points from six encounters.

Gold Sisters, who currently anchor the log-table with two losses, should not again make a mistake of arriving late at the BYC to face Chilomoni Sisters and Prison Sisters this weekend to avoid losing points as they did against Tigresses last weekend and, according to SRNL general secretary Annie Hanjahanja-Billie, avoid being chopped from the list of contestants.

In other games, Aquaid Queens will take on Chitakale Sisters whereas Chilomoni Sisters will be up against Aquaid Queens tomorrow (Sunday).
