Q gives Blantyre fans poetry dose
Spoken word artist Q Malewezi gave Blantyre fans a rare poetry treat on Sunday night at Kwa Haraba Arts Gallery in Blantyre.
Presented in a tranquil atmosphere, Kwa Haraba Art Gallery gave the sizeable audience an opportunity to listen to the emotional recitals.
Q performed alongside South African poet Vangile Gantsho who impressed with her ironic recitals which gripped the audience and left them yearning for more.
Ufulu FM’s Yankho Seunde also impressed with his deep resonating piece which brought diversity to the show.
People is Q’s lead poem which holds fans at ransom due to its deep and reflective idioms that explore people in general.
Q described the Blantyre show as a snippet of the forthcoming launch of his album on Saturday at Lilongwe’s Bingu International Conference Centre (Bicc).
“This is a peep into what Blantyre fans should expect from the main show on Saturday,” said Q.
Before the show at Kwa Haraba Art Gallery, Q also interacted with artists at Chancellor College.
“We are putting up a great show come Saturday. We do not want mediocrity that is why we are interacting with poets that will perform,” he said.
Q’s album tackles characters of people to reflect on issues that happen in everyday life. n
