Rotary Club appeals for new members

Newly inducted Rotary Club of Bwaila-Lilongwe president Innocent Mofolo has called on the public to join his club and help in serving less-privileged communities in the country.

He made the call in his acceptance speech during his induction as Rotary Club of Bwaila-Lilongwe president for 2024-25 held on Saturday in Lilongwe.

Mofolo said as a club, they have many projects which need more people to be successfully implemented.

“We have a lot of service projects that we are doing which total more than K1 billion. So, we need a lot of hands to help us do those projects. We are looking for more members to join our club to help serve those that are less-privileged,” he said.

Mofolo encouraged the public to join his rotary club, saying they are looking forward to induct more than 10 new members in 2024-2025 Rotary year.

He said anyone is eligible to join Rotary, refuting claims that rotary is only for the rich as some people believe.

“Rotary is not an elite organisation, it is an organisation for those who are willing to serve others, those that are willing to give their time in service of others, those that are willing to create impact.

“It is for those that are willing to be part of transformative work of changing lives through service projects like building hospitals, schools, supporting in capacity building by educating Malawians through scholarships. So, rotary is service above self, be willing to help others,” Mofolo said.

Rotary Club of Bwaila-Lilongwe immediate-past president Hafez Jamal said as established Rotarians they are ready to provide assistance and guidance to those willing to join their club.

Rotary Club of Bwaila-Lilongwe was established in 2007 and has over 20 members from a variety of professions who dedicate their time and resources to supporting less-privileged people as well as serving vulnerable communities in the country.
