The Rotary Club of Blantyre, in conjunction with Ndirande Health Centre, is providing a three-day outreach clinic offering free medical services to those seeking outpatient care.

The clinic, which is targeting 2,000 patients, is screening for various diseases and providing immediate medical attention for treatable conditions.

In an interview, Grace Austin, president of the Rotary Club of Blantyre, said the event is part of the annual Rotary Family Health Day.

She said: “We will also conduct such clinics in areas like Chileka, Lunzu and Mdeka, primarily for those who are unable to access medical facilities due to distance or financial constraints.

“Our goal is to reach as many individuals as possible, ensuring that those who might otherwise go without necessary medical care receive the attention they need.”

Austin added that the initiative is crucial for early detection and management of health issues, which can significantly improve the overall well-being of communities.

On her part, Blantyre District Health Office senior medical officer Dr Gloria Mdachi noted that the outreach will assist a significant number of people who are reluctant to seek healthcare.

“By bringing medical services directly to the community, we aim to encourage those who might otherwise hesitate to visit a health facility to take advantage of the free screenings and treatments available,” she said.
