Royal treatment at Princess Chitsulo’s launch

The cheering and clapping could be heard from every corner of Robins Park in Blantyre. Fans were in a frenzy at Princess Chitsulo’s second album Palibe Otsutsa launch on 28 October as every song and every artist pulled them along with the gospel music.

Dancing antics were legion. Some fans gathered round and did good justice to kwasakwasa. During Favoured Martha’s performance of Moyo Umakoma ndi Ambuye, many tried their luck at manganje.

Allan Chirwa was not taken aback with the sing-alongs that were chanted throughout the big building. Even children tried their luck at the dancing antics and singing.

But the most breathtaking moment was when Chitsulo herself emerged from back stage, dressed to kill singing her heart out.

She started with a praise and worship song from her new album titled Mwayenera Yehova. Soon, the title track Palibe Otsutsa and other songs like Yamba Wafuna Ufumu Wake, Turn Around, and the old favourite, Sindilola, followed.

Said Chitsulo; “After six years of silence, the welcome I have received from people is amazing and it shows that God is on my side.

“I have plans to launch this album in Lilongwe in November but I cannot say when I will be in Mzuzu.”

Mlaka Maliro also graced the launch to provide moral and financial support together with Ethel Kamwendo.

It was a show worth the money.
