Sangala roped into Flames technical panel

Retired former Flames sweeper and captain James Sangala has been incorporated into the Flames technical panel as team liaison officer.

Sangala is set to start his new duties on Monday when the Flames go into camp at Chilambula Lodge in Lilongwe in preparation for an international friendly match against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars on May 4 in Mbeya.

According to FAM chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda, Sangala will be working hand-in-hand with team manager Franco Ndawa.

“He will be more or less deputising the team manager in taking care of players affairs,” said Nyirenda.

The notable new faces in the 25-member squad include goalkeeper Vincent Gona; defenders Lottie Mwakasulu, Thoko Stambuli and Bashir Maunde; midfielders Lottie Chawinga and Nelson Kangunje and striker Manase Chiyesa.

Others that have been recalled after sometime are defender John Lanjesi; midfielders World Nkuliwa and Phillip Masiye and striker Diverson Mlozi.

The rest are goalkeepers Charles Swini and Richard Chipuwa; defenders Pilirani Zonda, Francis Mulimbika, Lucky Malata, Emmanuel Zoya and George Nyirenda; midfielders John Banda, Mecium Mhone, Douglas Chirambo, Frank Banda, Young Chimodzi Jnr and strikers Gastin Simukonda and Green Harawa.
