Shonga, Banda are champions of Old Mutual ball pool

Renowned golfers Caro Banda and James Shonga proved their superiority in the golf sport on Wednesday after they outclassed other 52 golfers at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC).

Old Mutual, which sponsored the Wednesday ball pool, donated K250 000 towards maintenance of the greens.

Banda, who was crowned champion, beat other seven women golfers while Shonga, who has been in oblivion for years, beat fellow 52 men to win.

“This is great achievement for me. I promise to continue participating in golf events, so that I win more trophies,” he said adding that his runner-up Boniface Chima gave him a tough job.

James Chuma was decorated with the nearest to the pin trophy likewise Connie Mguvu.

Edith Jiya, who is acting chief executive officer for Old Mutual, thanked golfers for the good turn-up. n
