Silver Strikers FC players have finally received their dues for winning the Be Forward Bonanza. The bankers won the two-day soccer event after stunning Epac 1-0 at Civo Stadium on September 27 to cart home K2 million.

Silver general secretary Mike Tembo confirmed yesterday giving the players their money.

“I can confirm that the players shared 50 percent, which is K1 million. This is part of the tradition that whenever we win a cup, they have to share 50 percent of the prize money,” said Tembo.

Meanwhile, Tembo has warned players, who want to leave the team, to be cautious when making such decisions.

Tembo’s warning comes amid controversial developments between the team and striker Chawangwa Kaonga who is wanted by Big Bullets ahead of the start of the CAF Champions League in February.

Other players rumoured to be contemplating to leave Silver are Lameck Kachimanga, Frank Banda, Ndaziona Chatsalira and Lucky Malata, according to some inside sources.

“I heard about the exodus of players, but that remains a rumour unless we are communicated to by interested teams or the players,” said Tembo.
