Silver poach from Dedza ahead of next round

Silver Strikers Football Club has intensified efforts to beef up its squad ahead of the next round after poaching defending midfielder John Banda from Dedza Young Soccer Stars.
Banda, whose agent is Emmanuel Viola, played for Chikwawa United and Evirom FC in previous seasons.
He is going to Silver at a transfer fee of K500 000.
Viola said Dedza failed to pay K200 000 for the player, hence a decision to sell him to Silver.
“When they approached us seeking the services of Banda, we pegged him at K300 000 because we wanted to help them stay in the league. They paid K100 000 with a promise that they will pay the balance within two weeks, but failed. When Silver approached us, we readily agreed to sell them the player,” said Viola in an interview from Blantyre.
Dedza Young Soccer Stars general secretary Panganeni Ndovi confirmed Viola’s version, saying they were in the process of paying the balance when they heard that Banda was training with Silver Strikers.
“He [John Banda] told us that he was travelling to Blantyre to visit his family, only to hear that he was at Silver [in Lilongwe],” said Ndovi.
Silver general secretary Fred Kalonga confirmed that a deal has been reached.
“We have followed the right process and the money is there. We believe he will add depth to the team,” said Kalonga.
He said his club has also written Epac seeking the services of left-back Dalitso Mwase and Be Forward Wanderers on the possibility of buying Bester Phiri.
