Silver to compensate injured players
Silver Strikers have announced that they will compensate their players who got injured before the club introduced an insurance policy this season.
In an exclusive interview on Sunday, the club’s treasurer, Fred Kalonga, said players such as Blessings Tembo, Green Harawa, Sebastian Mhone, Dave Moya and Rodrick Gonani will be compensated for the injuries they suffered between 2010 and 2013.
“During this time, the players were not insured, but as a club we thought it right to compensate them with something at the prevailing rates. We are doing so on humanitarian grounds,” said Kalonga.
One of the beneficiaries, Sebastian Mhone, has since welcomed the initiative.
“Though I am yet to get communication in that regard, the news is welcome. I thank the club for the consideration,” said Mhone.
