TNM Super League defending champions Silver Strikers have added Peter Mgangira to the Stain Chirwa-led coaching panel, hoping to tap from their former captain’s experience.

Reports suggest that Mgangira is deputising Chirwa, but club general secretary Mike Tembo was elusive when asked on Monday on his actual role. Silvers’ panel also comprises Itai Nundwe and Francis Songo.

“In our effort to develop football, we are targeting players from the lower league to introduce them in the Supper League. You will have noted that a lot of youthful players have been registered by Silver this year. We are also having a vibrant youth team which is now on top of the log table in the Chipiku League,” said Tembo.

“All these efforts can be compete, if we also include those players who also made their contributions to football by introducing them at a certain role and not mainly for the club to benefit, but for the sake of Malawi football to win.”

Mgangira joined Silver from Civo United at the turn of the century and was the driving force for the Bankers until a few years ago when he was lured by Blue Eagles where he ended his playing career in 2012. The Eagles eventually drafted him into the coaching panel, before parting ways last year.
