Singh wins Sharma golf tourney

Bobby Singh posted a net of 59 points to win the Sharma Electricals Golf Tournament at Thyolo Sports Club (TSC) on Sunday.

It was Singh’s first ever triumph in a golf tournament, no wonder excitement was written all over his face.

“I am very happy because this is the first time that I have won a golf tournament,” said Singh who came out tops from a field of 50 golfers that took part.

Stevie Chisale was the runner-up with a net score of 62 points. He counted out Charles Mukiwa to finish third while TSC golf captain James Chuma was fourth, he posted 63 points.

In the ladies category, Maggie Mkwanda came out tops with 70 points.

Mkwanda said she was excited with her victory since it was her first time to compete at TSC. Beatrice Mangwana was her runner-up.

In subsidiary prizes, Chisale had the longest drive on hole number 10 whereas Alinafe Mbendera was nearest to the pin.

Sharma Electricals managing director Bob Sharma expressed satisfaction with the turnout.

Chuma thanked Sharma for their continued support.

“I would also like to thank all the golfers for taking part in the tournament,” said Chuma.
