Skeffa Chimoto and the Real Sounds Band will perform at the launch of Chibuku Road to Fame music competition at BAT Ground in Blantyre tomorrow.

The Musicians’ Union of Malawi will start receiving registration forms from eligible music groups, on Saturday. Groups that are eligible for the competition are those that have not recorded a song and are more than 18 years of age.

In an interview yesterday, Timothy Sukali marketing manager for Chibuku Products Limited, who are funding the competition, says that they have doubled the prize money to K1 million and a trip to Botswana where they will watch Botswana Road to Fame which totals their financial input in the competition to K15 million.

“The aim is to promote Malawian music and as Chibuku Products Limited, we feel the prize money is enough for an upcoming group,” said Sukali.

Coordinator of the competition, Young Chilaga could not disclose the names of the judges but assured The Nation that the judges of the competition have been appointed on merit and they are all prominent people in the music business.

“These judges are people that are professionals, they know how to read and write music and we have confidence that they will do a great job in the competition,” said Chilaga.
