Soko retains PP post

The People’s Party (PP) on Monday held its provincial elections in the Northern Region which saw many interim office bearers retaining their positions.

During the elections held at Mary Mount Secondary School hall in Mzuzu, the Reverend Brown Soko, who was instrumental in the establishment of PP in the Northern Region, retained his seat as provincial chairperson with Patrick Ng’oma as his deputy.

However, renowned politician Goodwin Gondwe, who was third vice-provincial chairperson, lost to Roosevelt Juta Mayuni.

Former Mzuzu City Member of Parliament Good Kaira also retained his seat as regional secretary whereas Mary Mphasi retained her seat as Kaira’s deputy.

PP regional treasurer is Lloyd Njaliwa whereas Clifa Kondowe also retained the position of director of women. However, Kondowe’s deputy, Lucy Kalua, lost her position to Oliper Muyawa. Laston Stambuli is director of youths.

Former parliamentarian for Nkhata Bay North Pisho Nkhwazi was also re-elected as regional director of elections.

PP officials Paul Maulidi and Harry Mkandawire presided over the elections.
