Sonye drops new single

Malawi’s R&B singer Sonye last week made an official comeback into the music scene as he released a new love song titled Golide.

The song comes out after the Blantyre-based artist announced in June that he would be making a comeback with new singles this summer.

Golide is an Afro R&B-Soul melody that gets Sonye’s singing about a couple that is deeply in love.

“It’s a song about those who are in true love and have found that special person to spend the rest of their life with. It’s something that has been there and it will always be there,” said Sonye.

The chorus goes like: Ngati golide chikondi chathu ndi chodula. Timaso tako kuwala ngati duwa pa dzuwa. Ndipatse mtima wako ndiusunge pabwino, chonde dale osaopa nd’zakusamala bwino.

“Probably some experiences in life are what really inspired me to write the song. I was writing it picturing a couple truly in love walking down that aisle, and basically I wrote it from the guy’s perspective,” he explained further.

The vocalist, who is also a record producer, makes his comeback a year after he last dropped his previous singles Katsabola (Piri Piri) and Sweet Love, released in July 2013.

In a previous interview Sonye disclosed that he was preparing for his official comeback next year, saying the singles coming out this summer are the first phase of his comeback.

Sonye announced a break from music after he released his 2012 debut albumBreak Point as he wanted to focus on his studies.

In the latest interview, he revealed that his next release will be an “ultimate summer single” called Tsika, to be released soon.
