The Southern Region Pool League (SRPL) season will throw off with renewed vigour on August 21 following K1.5 million sponsorship from a sponsor who will be unveiled on Friday.

Mallunga: It will be for Blantyre

SRPL chairperson Dave Mallunga said yesterday it is for this reason that they are calling on all the 23 registered teams and interested outfits to meet at Afro Motel Gardens in Blantyre this Saturday for a bonanza.
He said the bonanza will provide organisers to know the number of existing teams before the league starts.
“Teams that will not be present at Afro Motel by 10 am will not be considered in the new league season because we would assume they do not exist,” he said.
To participate in the bonanza, Mallunga said each team will pay K5 000.
He said registration fee for the league has been trimmed from K23 000 to K10 000 because most of the funds for administration will be provided by the sponsor.
“Registration for the new season will close on August 18 and it will be open to teams from Blantyre, Chiradzulu, Mwanza, Mulanje, Thyolo and Chikwawa,” he said.
Kabinda Snipers of Blantyre Flea Market are the league’s defending champions. n
