Stakeholders discuss Gender Equality Act

Stakeholders on gender issues have proposed new provisions to be included in the formulation of rules and regulations under the Gender Equality Act. Speaking on Tuesday in Lilongwe at a meeting organised by the Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare, the stakeholders–comprising gender activists, senior chiefs, media practitioners, police and civil society organisations (CSOs)–said they want, among others, introduction of equitable access to sexual and reproductive services in both urban and rural areas.– RACHEL KACHALI, Staff Writer
