Sulom to recruit commercial manager

The Super League of Malawi (Sulom)—as promised in president Innocent Bottoman manifesto— has taken the first step towards revamping its secretariat by seeking to recruit a commercial manager.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, Sulom general secretary Williams Banda described the hiring of the manager as part of their strategic plan “meant to growing the revenue base, increasing football audience and exposing brand and products of our sponsors.”

All along, Sulom never had a marketing section to generate additional income. The body just thrives on gate collections and TNM sponsorship now pegged at K90 million per year; up from K65 million.

The statement says the suitable candidate must have at least a marketing diploma and will be responsible “for coordinating marketing, commercial, communication and promotion activities related to Sulom.”

The manager, to be reporting to Banda, will also be charged with increasing revenue from tickets, broadcasting rights and match attendance at league games. Applications can be channelled to vacancy@sulom.mw  before May 10 2015.

Launching his re-election bid in March, Bottoman also promised to ensure Sulom own a building for a secretariat. Sulom currently rents an office in down town Blantyre having relocated from the Chiwembe Technical Centre due to bad blood between FAM and Sulom.
