The 2012 TNM Super League will kick off on May 26, Sulom has announced.

According to Super League of Malawi (Sulom) general secretary Williams Banda the transfer window has been extended to May 28.

“Following consultations with the our sponsors and the teams, it has been agreed that the league should start on May 26.

“We are, therefore, urging the clubs to take advantage of the transfer window extension to complete player transfers,” said Banda.

The Sulom GS also said so far no major transfer has been completed despite reports that a number of teams such as Silver Strikers, Civo United and Mighty Wanderers are intending to beef up their squads.

The Nomads want to rope in Chimango Kaira from Escom United whereas the Bankers are interested in Young Chimodzi Jnr and Ndaziona Chatsalira also from Escom.

Another former Escom United attacking midfielder Noel ‘Amfumu’ Mkandawire is linked to his former club Civo United.

However, Escom chairperson Fanuel Nkhono confirmed that negotiations with the two teams over the three players have since commenced

Banda also urged the clubs to finalise their registration stating that the fee remains K450 000 per club.

He also said inspection of venues is already underway.

Silver Strikers are the reigning champions.
