Support Battalion on Sunday beat Mitundu United 1-0 in Chipiku Premier League fixture to keep their hopes of Super League promotion on track.

The win meant they (Battalion) now have 57 points, eight behind leaders Dedza Young Soccer Stars.

The league leaders maintained the grip on the table with a 2-0 win against Hardknockers of Lilongwe.

Support has a game in hand after their fixture against Dowa United was cancelled after a Dowa player died.

Following Hardknockers slip on Sunday, the race seems to be between Support and Dedza.

If Dedza manage to win Super League promotion they will make history as the first team from Dedza to play in the league.

But Dedza Young Soccer Stars coach Millias Jegwa Pofera refused to be carried away and dream of promotion.

“It is still a long way to go. We have a huge task of ensuring that we win all our remaining matches. I really can’t say if we have bagged promotion,” said Pofera.

For Support, a promotion to the top league will swell the number of military teams to eight.

In other games, Maicc FC lost 0-1 to Mponela United . Kasungu Police beat Mchinji Boma Stars 1-0.
