FAM technical development officer and grass-roots football manager Patrick Kulemeka has revealed plans to introduce evening social football matches at the SureStream Stadium [MDC] and Chiwembe ground in Blantyre.

Kulemeka said this week that the social football events, that will involve corporate soccer teams, aim at creating the right forum for FAM to discuss football development matters with prospective sponsors while at the same time providing fun and relaxation.

He added the plan will also help to provide the youth ample time for training during the day.

Kulemeka further said the two football pitches will have floodlights to make them playable after sunset.

“FAM has already endorsed the proposal and we are currently in the process of working on how we can go about it,” said Kulemeka.

Recently, FAM struck a deal with UK-based oil firm SureStream Petroleum to establish a K67 million football academy in the next three years at MDC Stadium, which has since been renamed SureStream Stadium.

At present, some youngsters are being trained by Kulemeka and his team at Chiwembe in preparation for the setting up of the academy.
