President Peter Mutharika yesterday received letters of credence from new Tanzanian High Commissioner Victoria Mwakasege at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe. Speaking after the ceremony, Mwakasege said her closed-door discussions with Mutharika included the promotion of the strong and historic Tanzania-Malawi bilateral ties through transportation, trade, culture and vibrancy in private sector interactions. When a reporter asked whether the discussions had touched on the Lake Malawi wrangle between Tanzania and Malawi, she firmly responded: “No, we didn’t.” In the picture, Mwakasege is presenting her credentials to Mutharika.—SAMUEL CHUNGA, Lilongwe Bureau Chief
