Tawonga’s team eyes third place
Malawian international Tawonga Chimodzi’s side, Iraklis Psachna, looks set to seal a third place finish in the Greek Second League which is getting to an end.
Chimodzi is, according to www.leaguetables.com, a regular for Psachna who sit third on 47 points from 25 games in the 14-member league. They have a game to wind up the season.
Chania are placed second with 47 points whereas Olymp Votou top the standings on 53 points. Vyzas anchor the table at 41 points. All teams have played 25 games.
Chimodzi, son to Flames coach Young, is the sole Malawian footballer playing at the relative highest level in Europe. The attacking midfielder had not responded to questionnaire as we went to press.
The other Malawian Dan Chitsulo admitted on Tuesday that he was seeing the last days of his career in Germany and that football is no longer his main source of income. Reports suggest that Clement Kafwafwa wound up his 11-year football career in Denmark and he is back home.
In South Africa, Robert Ng’’ambi passed a late fitness test on Tuesday night to score in 3-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns who netted through Anthony Lafour, Surprise Moriri and Lebohang Mokoena. Sundowns climbed to second whereas Stars are eighth.
Ng’ambi joins Bloemfontein Celtic’s Gabadinho Mhango as joint-Malawian leading scorers in the South Africa Premiership on seven goals.
