Scorchers striker Temwa Chawinga is on fire at 2021 China Taiping CFA Women’s Super League as she leads the scorers list with six goals.

The Wuhan Jiangda striker has scored in all five matches played this far to help her side remain unbeaten with four wins and one draw.

Has netted six goals in five matches: Temwa

Yan Jinjin of Shanghai Shengli, Li Ying of Shandong Ticai and Rafaelle of Changchun Dazhong Zhuoyue are second with four goals apiece.

Her sister and teammate Tabitha is third with three goals while another Wuhan player Gu Yasha, Li Jiayue of Shanghai Shengli and Wurigumula of Changchun Dazhong Zhuoyue have two goals each.

Zambia Women’s national captain Barbara Banda, who won the 2020 China Taiping CFA Women’s Super League Golden Boot with 18 goals, scored her first goal on Friday in Shanghai Shengli’s 4-0 win over Sichuan.

Temwa, who finished second to Banda, said she hopes this year she will not miss the award.

She said: “Hopefully, the goals will keep on coming so that I can win the award.”

Wuhan and Shanghai Shengli tie at 13 points from five matches.

However, Temwa’s side lead the table on goal difference.

Changchun Dazhong are third with 12 points while Guangdong Meizhou are fourth with nine points.

Jiangsu Suning are fifth with eight points.

The league is played in three rounds.

The first and second stages of the competition adopt a round-robin system.

Out of the 10 teams the top five teams proceed to the third stage to produce the first to fifth ranked sides.

Teams from position five to 10 compete in the third stage to produce sixth to 10th ranked teams.

The top and second ranked teams compete in the final while the third and fourth ranked teams clash in third-place play offs.

The fifth ranked team assumes the position at the end of the season. The other remaining teams compete for position six to 10.
