The theatre of ‘nightmares’

Listen to this article

It was scene plucked from a Hollywood movie, as Silver Strikers tried to pull a fast one on unsuspecting Be Forward Wanderers when they whisked Japanese footballer Genki Nakamura away from Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe upon his arrival.

Poor Nakamura arrived at the airport with no one to welcome him but he still got the feel of the Warm Heart of Africa from mosquitoes who accorded him a ‘special’ welcome as he waited for his ‘hosts’ before the Bankers rushed to pick him up.

Silver took him to one of their offcials’ pad in Area 18, well this is where they probably missed it. After a long three-legged flight, they should have taken him to a place called Ma China—where you find all sorts of night queens— for a  massage session and, of course, the feel of malegeni. He surely would have been swayed by the magic of the capital and would not have gone to B-town (Blantyre).

On a serious note though, the hype that surrounded his arrival was fascinating. Hopefully Nakamura will translate all that on the pitch and prove that there is more about Japan than just the game of judo and that it can produce other talented footballers apart from Shinji Kagawa. Fans have lots of expectations from him. He needs to make a difference and add value to our game with vintage displays and not some sort of Kabuki (popular Japanese dance).

On a lighter note, in the event that he fails to make the grade at Lali Lubani Road, he can reconsider his decision not to join Manchester United because I hear they were the first to make an offer but he turned it down because he does not want to join a team that does not remember when it last won.

So, the guy called Louis Van something could still be waiting in the wings to get him on board as desperation to turn the fortunes around at the ‘Theatre of Nightmares takes its toll. Uloliwe…uloliwe wayidudula hah!, neng’esiza [The train is pushing]. Glory be to God. n
