Tigers FC rope in Yobe

Tigers FC have roped in former Bullets and Wanderers winger MacDonald Yobe into their technical panel as they intensify preparations for next season.

According to technical director Robin Alufandika, in the absence of head coach Leo Mpulula, Yobe is assisting Meke Mwase and Chikayiko Bridge in drilling the team.

Mpulula is away in Germany for a three-week coaching course.

“Yobe is with us as an assistant coach and we know his vast playing career both at club and national team level is vital in imparting the knowledge to the players,” said Alufandika.

He also said the absence of Mpulula will not affect the team’s preparations.

“In fact, it is a blessing to have him overseas ahead of the season. The tricks he will learn that side will help him drill the team well. This season we are geared to win trophies and that is why we have boosted our technical panel,” he said.

Yobe could not be reached for comment.

The former Flames international, who also had a stint with Canadian side Ottawa Wizards, quit the game in 2003 when he left Bullets for the United Kingdom.

He did a CAF C coaching licence last year.
