Tigresses dominate Airtel Money Netball awards

After winning the inaugural Airtel Money Netball Championships a few days ago, Complex Tigresses have also excelled on individual awards as their shooter Sindi Simtowe and defender Laureen Ngwira have been named Player of the Tournament and best defender respectively.

According to Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) general secretary Carol Bapu, each accolade comes with a K100 000 prize.

Bapu said Grace Chizungulire of Diamonds and Takondwa Lwazi of Blue Eagles Sisters and umpire Aaron Gopani Phoya will also receive K100 000 each for becoming the competition’s top shooter, best centre court player and best umpire respectively.

In the print media category, Mphatso Malidadi of Blantyre Newspapers Limited (BNL) grabbed the first position to take home a K150 000 first prize followed by Nation Publication Limited’s (NPL) Solomon Manda who received K50 000.

In the electronic media, Paul Kamanga hit the K150 000 jackpot followed by Mike Bango of Zodiak Broadcasting Station who received K50 000. Innocent Chitimbe of Star FM Radio and Livingstonia Synod Radio’s Allan Nyirenda received K30 000 each for sharing the third slot.

Frank Kandu of Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) got K100 000 for being named overall best reporter of the event.
