Having withdrawn from last year’s final, Bingu Tigresses are determined to make the most of the 2013 edition of the Rainbow Paints Top Six Netball Series.

Yesterday, Tigresses coach Charles Mhango confirmed that they would register for the series which will be re-launched at the Blantyre Youth Centre today Tuesday. The cup is currently pegged at K1 million (about $2 500).

“It is not like we were against Rainbow Paints but could not just go in there for the sake of fulfilling a fixture when our two key players were with the national team,” Mhango said.

“In total, we were without four key players and this compromised our chances of winning the trophy as we were up against a strong side. This year, we urge the organisers to stick to the rules that stipulate that a team that has contributed two players to the national team is expected to be exempted.”

Tigresses withdrew from last year’s final against Escom Sisters and MTL Queens replaced them. Escom, now called Diamonds, won comfortably.

A statement from the Southern Region Netball League general secretary Annie Hanjahanja said the re-launch will start from 9:30 am.

Dancing queens will spice up the occasion that will include a signing of a memorandum of understanding with Rainbow Paints.
