Time not on our side—Chimodzi
Flames coach Young Chimodzi has conceded that it will be a tough task to adequately prepare for Saturday’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mali’s Eagles due to insufficient time.
The Flames set about their preparations this morning at Kamuzu Stadium. Chimodzi and his assistant Jack Chamangwana only have five days to tune up for the match having regrouped late due to lack of funding.
“We do not have enough time. It is somehow a worrisome situation, but all the same, we will do with the five days we have,” said Chimodzi.
He said they will limit their preparations to the most important aspects such as coordination and the actual game plan.
“But we will give it our best shot because the game against Mali is the most important fixture for us as it will determine our fate,” he said.
He said while the odds favour the Eagles, playing at home should give the Flames a slight advantage.
Meanwhile, foreign-based players started arriving on Saturday with the arrival of Mozambique-based Costa Dol Sol midfielder Chimango Kayira.
According to Flames’ liaison officer James Sangala, five others; Robin Ngalande, Limbikani Mzava, Frank ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango and Zicco Mkanda, were scheduled to arrive yesterday.
The last to arrive today will be Captain Joseph Kamwendo, forward Esau Kanyenda and midfielder Robert Ng’ambi.
