TNM splashes K1m for Poly social weekend

Polytechnic students at the weekend witnessed one of the highly billed social weekends after TNM splashed K1 million towards the event.

Underwear dressed on top of leggings, men dressed in leggings, bizarre wigs, painted faces and weird masks were not wardrobe malfunctions and the revellers were not mental cases either. It was a way of celebrating their free thought and expression through dress and has always been a social weekend tradition for decades.

The student revellers braved the drizzle as they danced to the DJ’s mix as some guzzled booze while others feasted on the braii at the Poly Annex.

Some played different fun games including pushing each other in a shopping cart.

The crowd went bizarre the moment Gwamba and Nesnes hopped on stage to perform a TNM Smart Data theme song at the event.

Aside that, Gwamba performed Zimuvuta while Nesnes performed Chidodo.

The two musicians’ performance marked the launch of the smart campaign where those that registered to have bought a smart data bundle will win various prizes such as cellphones, Internet dongles and other goodies.

In an event that was held at the campus’ lecture theatre, the students had a beauty pageant where they were to select Miss and Mr TNM Smart Data.

After the models had paraded the runway in different categories, it was Vanessa Thyolani and Evans Banda who were crowned Mr and Miss and TNM Smart Data, while Jeremy Magowa emerged First Prince and Trance Mkandawire First Princess.

The pageant was spiced with performances from Gwamba and Nesnes, joined by Nepman and Mafo.

TNM marketing manager Madalitso Jonazi said they sponsored the event as a way of thanking their customers, some of whom are students who use Internet to source information.

“We also wanted to bring the smart campaign to this market segment because we discovered these students need Internet to find information. So through our Smart products, they will be able to access that information easily,” said Jonazi.
