Total Malawi has said it values interaction with its customers through golf tournaments it organises in the country.

The sentiments were made by Total Malawi managing director Michel Malitano during prize presentation to winners at Kasasa Golf Club in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota recently.

“We have Unitrans and Illovo Sugar who form some of our big customers. We thought it proper to interact with them through golf. It is about socialising and having fun. We are glad with the turn-out and I can say it has been a success,” said Malatino.

Winners took home prizes that included plasma flat screens, cookers and refrigerators.

The Dwangwa tournament could not have been any better as it was won by the host club’s members Harvey Machinjiri and Ruth Mvula.

Machinjiri had a score of 41 points, ahead of second-placed Jimmy Changa’s 40 points. Kasungu-based Breggar Kaingwe, who counted out Mzuzu-based Kalusha Phiri, came third on 39 points.

Kaingwe earned the longest drive and was also nearest to the pin.

In the ladies category, Mvula scored 32 points to pip Lusibilo Chakaniza to the honours. Chakaniza scored 24 points.

Mvula also earned both longest drive and nearest to the pin awards.

In his victory speech, Machinjiri thanked Total Malawi for the “wonderful” prizes.

“The course was good and it aided my game. I enjoyed my golf and my playing partners were wonderful. I am looking forward to defend the title next year, “said Machinjiri.

Mvula was equally ecstatic after coming tops in three categories.

“It has been a wonderful day for me to win all this against some good golfers. Thank you Total,” she said.
