Seven years ago John Nsambo co-established Target Security Group (TSG), a total security, risk and facilities management company, as an offshoot franchise of a United Kingdom (UK)-based company he worked for before his return to Malawi.

However, the take off had been slow-moving due to several business ventures until last year when a decision was made to inject in the enterprise more funding and momentum.

The move led to the hiring of new management headed by Davie Kavinya as chief executive officer (CEO) and equity owner in the business to lead the brand transformation and development of a new growth strategy.

customer security needs

Though relatively new, TSG stands out as a unique security firm that focuses on total facilities management solutions and brings a one-stop shop opportunity for security guarding and electronic security which covers intrusion detection, video surveillance and access control.

Furthermore, the company offers fire safety systems, building maintenance, cleaning, landscaping, pest control, electrical, plumbing and compliance testing.

“With the rebranding time has come to scale up the business by providing internationally certified services. TSG has a bold vision to be the largest and dominant security, risk, and facilities management firm in Malawi not just by turnover but also head count. We will be among the top five employers in Malawi by 2026,” challenged Nsambo in an interview.

The co-director said TSG, which is internationally certified to ISO 9001, delivers peace of mind with integrated business focussed solutions that also include vehicle tracking and intelligence advisory.

The extensive rebranding initiative has also seen TSG unveiling a new senior leadership team, strategy, new logo, and new cutting-edge products and services.

“It’s a major milestone for the company… We are an intelligence-led business because we know the best way to create safe and secure environments is by combining deep expertise of our staff with the power of our systems, deploying the best technology.

“We are offering a total package in as far as facilities management is concerned. We ensure that TSG becomes synonymous with quality, delivery, and exceptional customer service,” explained Kavinya.

TSG’s intelligence advisory services seeks to work with the insurance sector to curb bogus claims for injuries and negligence. It is estimated that 30 percent of all insurance claims in the country in motor or medical are bogus leading to over K5 billion losses annually.

The home security solutions brings together a unified portal where clients take control of their property. The services provided include security cameras for surveillance, intruder alarms, security guards, dog patrols and response.

To strengthen the delivery of intelligence-led and quality security services, TSG also engaged retired assistant commissioner of police Davie Chingwalu to head operations and marketing.

“TSG is a forward-thinking company that places service delivery and customers at the centre. We have a fantastic team that goes an extra mile to ensure TSG excites and our customers get satisfied,” boasted Chingwalu.

With its head office situated at Cristwick, Ginnery Corner, next to Blue Elephant Club in Blantyre, the company has already created more than 100 jobs and has branch offices in Lilongwe’s Area 3 servicing the Central and Northern regions.
