Two arrested for stealing K400 000 worth household items

 

Two men—Daniel Jonas, 21, and Salati Kamukhozi, 32,—are in police custody on suspicion that they stole K 400 000 worth of property in Mtsiliza Township in Lilongwe.

The suspects were cornered by members of the community

Lingadzi Police Station spokesperson Foster Benjamin confirmed the news. 

“They first broke into the house of Toneki Banda and stole kitchen utensils, maize flour and three big speakers valued at K150 000. When Banda spotted a person fleeing from his house, he called out for help.

“Fortunately, neighbours responded and apprehended Jonasi, who revealed that he had hid the items in a bush. He also revealed his accomplice Salati Kamukhozi who the community also apprehended,” said Benjamin.

It was learnt that the two had earlier allegedly terrorised Luka Masson’s residence where they stole a car battery, solar panel and a mobile phone handset, valued at K250 000. The items were later recovered at Kamukhozi’s house.
