Uhuru coming for Lake of Stars

Top rated South African  kwaito/house group Uhuru are coming to Malawi!

Lake of Stars festival organisers announced today that they have secured the award-winning group for this year’s event which takes place at Sunbird Nkoplola on the weekend of September 25 to 27.uhuru

“We’re seriously excited to announce the South African superstars as the final regional headliner at this year’s Lake of Stars Festival. The four-man collective behind hits like The Sound, Khona, Saka Nana, and Duze will be playing on the Friday night, 25 September,” Lake of Stars director Will Jameson wrote in a press release.

Comprised of Maphorisa, Mapiano, DJ Clap and Xeli, Uhuru have collaborated with Davido, Mafikizolo, Professor, DJ Buckz, Bongo Maffin, Oskido, Wizkid, and Runtown. Their single ‘Y-Tjukutja’ was hailed by The Guardian as “a certified summer club smash hit”.

According to Jameson, people stand to tickets to see the band live by commenting, with a favourite Uhuru track, on the Lake of Stars Facebook page.
