Veep invited to Friends of Limbani golf

Vice-President Saulos Chilima and Information Minister Kondwani Nankhumwa have been invited to grace Friends of Limbani Charity Golf Tournament.

The event, scheduled for September 19 2014 at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC), is meant to raise K10 million for a kidney transplant of ailing journalist Limbani Moya.

According to a statement released by Friends of Limbani task force yesterday, Chilima and Nankhumwa are expected to tee off the charity golf, which is open to individuals and companies willing to sponsor a team of two at K70 000. Moya is currently unemployed.

“Donations in cash and kind are also welcome towards the whole cause.

“Cash donations can be deposited directly into account name: Friends of Limbani, Account number 5200740001, FMB Blantyre Branch,” reads the statement, which adds that the list of donors will be acknowledged in the press.

Moya, born on August 28 1968 was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2012 and has since been under treatment at various hospitals in Malawi and South Africa.

At present, he is on dialysis at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital using self-help and Masm health insurance.

He has now been referred to India for a kidney transplant which will cost K15 million, covering consultation, admission, treatment and surgery. His sister has offered the kidney for the transplant.
