Dedza Police Station deputy spokesperson Cassim Manda said in an interview on Tuesday that both the driver, Aaron Phiri, 27 and Khomba, who was asleep in the house at the time of the accident, are admitted to Dedza District Hospital after sustaining various degrees of injuries.

“The incident occurred on June 13 around 9pm at Nampala Village near Chongoni Turn-off along the Dedza-Lilongwe stretch of the M1 Road.

“It is suspected that the driver lost control and went to the extreme left where the vehicle, a Scania registration KA 3126 which was coming from South Africa through Dedza border, hit the house and demolished it before it caught fire and burnt to ashes,” Manda said.

He said all the items in the bus got burnt.

Phiri comes from Nsalu Village, T/A Kabudula in Lilongwe. n
