Voting on for Mumas second edition
Voting in the second annual Music Malawi (Muma) awards started yesterday morning.
This follows the announcing of nominees by the organisers; MediaCorp Limited and Trocadero Consulting in partnership with the Musicians Union of Malawi (MUM).
This edition has 15 categories covering different genres, groups and individual artists that made an impact on the local music scene in 2014.
“The list of nominees follows submissions of best acts by various players in the local music industry that included journalists, complemented by a dedicated team of seven judges who were appointed to oversee the process,” reads a statement signed by Bright Sonani, the second annual Muma awards public relations and communications manager.
Each category has five nominees where the public will choose from through voting.
“To vote for your favourite artists for 2014, send an SMS with the keyword to 58411. For example, to vote for Adrian Kwelepeta in the Best New Artist category send bn1 to 58411. Each SMS costs K25. The voting starts at 06.00 hours on Thursday February 12 2015. This is for Airtel subscribers only,” explained Sonani.

The second edition of the Muma awards will be held at the Bingu International Conference Centre (Bicc) in Lilongwe on Friday February 27 2015.
