Mighty Be Forward Wanderers leapt to the 2015 TNM Super League summit after easing past rookies Dedza Young Soccer Stars 3-0 in Nchalo yesterday to topple Big Bullets.

Defending champions Bullets slipped to second place after a 1-1 draw against Blue Eagles at the Kamuzu Stadium yesterday.

Dedza are fourth from bottom on seven points from eight games.

Wanderers have played one game less compared to the Bullets who were stunned by Schumacher Kuwali’s 57th minute clever chip that left goalkeeper Vincent Gona stranded following Yamikani Fodya blunder that gifted substitute John Malidadi Jnr the ball before he curled it into the scorer’s path.

However, Bullets cheated defeat as Osward Maonga and Steve Chagoma, who had alongside Phillip Masiye and Tsanzo Dalio, defended solidly, fouled Jaffalie Chande to cost the Eagles a penalty.

Chiukepo Msowoya, who alongside twin striker Mussa Manyenje spurned some five chances each, stepped forward to convert from the penalty spot, beating man-of-the-match goalkeeper John Soko with eight minutes to full time.

Eagles’ substitute Charles Ngosi, who had come in for injured Micium Mhone after the break, came close to grabbing the Eagles winner, but he was unfortunate to glance his header against the upright on the stroke of full time.

Bullets technical director Billy Tewesa refused to press the panic button, describing the result as “part of the game. Anything can happen in a game of football. We can defend the title with draws. We missed many scoring chances, but anyway in two or three weeks we should be back on top.”

The Eagles moved to third on 17 points from nine matches, displacing to fourth place Silver Strikers who are static at 16 points after being stunned 1-0 by struggling Epac FC yesterday in Lilongwe. Mude Jeffrey scored the lone goal in the 34th minute while Epac’s Under-20 international defender Boston Kabango was named man-of-the-match.

Epac stand-in coach Abbas Makawa was a relieved man after winning his second game since he took over from suspended head coach Leo Mpulula a fortnight ago.

“I think we deserved this victory. We played well and with passion. The players gave the assignment dedication and 100 percent effort. I’m a very happy person,” he said.
