Mighty Wanderers have released to their youth side seven players, including one-game wonder Omega Mhone and burly striker Diverson Chilemba. It remains to be seen if the players will accept to play for the lower league side.

Wanderers’ vice-general secretary Chris Kananji confirmed that the two key players were released alongside Diverious Mwale, Edward Chilarika, William Abdul, Felix Kamwendo and Taonga Chingati.

“We will replace them with five new ones to make it a squad of 20. They are good, but we feel they should go to the youth side and get more game time,” said Kananji.

The Nomads have taken advantage of the re-opened mid-season transfer window.

Chilemba featured on June 8 against rivals Big Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium, but it appears Luka Milanzi and Sparrow Msowoya’s arrival has seen him fall down the pecking order.

The Nomads are still battling with Blantyre United over the disputed transfer of Abraham Kamwendo. United are demanding transfer fee for Kamwendo following the expiry of his loan spell this season.

Meanwhile, the Super League of Malawi general secretary Williams Banda has called on clubs to expedite outstanding players’ transfers ahead of closure of the transfer window tomorrow [Thursday].
