Listen to this article

Brave Warriors have a rare opportunity to slash leaders Nchalo United’s cushion at the summit of the Peter Mutharika Southern Region Football League (SRFL) Premier Division.

Warriors can take their tally to within a point of Nchalo if they beat bottom-of-the-table Rock United today (Friday) at the Kamuzu Stadium, then Liwonde Medicals away Saturday.

Warriors are third on the 18-member table with 30 points from 15 games. Second-placed Bvumbwe Research also have 30 points, but are ahead with a better aggregate. Nchalo lead on 37 points from 15 games.

Therefore, today’s game presents Warriors’ coach Richard Mambelera and his right-hand man, Mabvuto Lungu, a chance to leapfrog Bvumbwe who will not be in action.

With experienced players such as Richard Lungu, Warriors can stretch their tally to 36 points. Rock United are anchoring the table with seven points from 12 games.

In the First Division, Zomba Air Wing FC lead the 21-member table with 43 points from 17 matches, 10 points ahead of Polytechnic.

SM Galaxy anchor the table having not earned a point in six outings.
