One of Silver Strikers caretaker coaches Hellings Mwakasungula has said his side blew a golden chance to win the TNM Super League championship by losing 1-0 to Mighty Wanderers last Saturday.

Mwakasungula is one of the four-member Silver’s caretaker coaching panel. The others are Thom Mkorongo, Itaye Nundwe and Sibusiso Padambo.

Mwakasungula said the Bankers would have been within sniffing distance of the prestigious title had they beaten the Nomads.

“We still have a chance, but honestly it’s no longer in our hands now, it’s very tight.

“We blew it when we lost to Wanderers and it was very painful. As it is, it is now very difficult for us,” said Mwakasungula.

However, his counterpart Mkorongo decided to put on a brave face, insisting that the Bankers are still very much in the race.

“The battle is still on; we’ll try to win our remaining games,” said Mkorongo.

The Bankers are still on second position with 42 points with two games before they wrap up the season.

Also on 42 points are Blantyre United and Mighty Wanderers who are third and fourth, respectively.
