Women’s Legal Resource Centre (Wolrec) has launched a gender-based violence (GBV) project in traditional authorities (T/As) Kalumo and Chilooko in Ntchisi District.

Speaking to the district’s gender technical working group on Monday, the organisation’s project officer Fasio Gavern said they are targeting women, men and the youth.

Kisyombe: We will end the vice

He said the project seeks to raise awareness on the link between GBV and sexual and reproductive health rights.

“We will train women and girls on how to report and prevent violence,” said Gavern.

On her part, Ntchisi district gender officer Hannah Kisyombe said the project will help to address violence against women and girls in the district.

“We will work with Wolrec and other partners to end the vice,” she said.

In his remarks, T/A Kalumo said he will engage his subjects to fight the vice.

The project is funded by the Norwegian Church Aid and Dan Church Aid.
