The World Boxing Federation (WBF) has offered Chrispin Moliati a title fight in South Africa.

WBF president Steven Newton has written Moliati management team led by Michael Chimalidza requesting the fight.

“WBF want to line up a lightweight fight for Moliati. I was speaking to Newton, but the problem we are facing is that a full record of Moliati’s fights isn’t on boxrec. It only shows a few fights,” stated 1Chimalidza.

He said there is a specific individual, who updates Boxrec records for local boxers, unfortunately for Moliati it has not been updating Moliati fights.

“I have thus submitted the details to the president of Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board (MPBCB) Lonzoe Zimba.

He has promised us to help with this soon,” said Chimalidza.

He said the request came after Moliati impressed boxing scouts in Windhoek, Namibia last month.

Moliati has fought 32 professional fights winning 26, losing four and drawing twice, but on Boxrec only eight fights are recorded.

Boxrec is a website recognised by all boxing institutions in the world.

In a separate interview, Moliati said he is keeping his fingers crossed that the anomaly is corrected.

“This is a grand opportunity for me. WBF is big and to fight a title fight under their credentials is a dream come true. I’m praying that everything goes well,” he said on Friday in Lilongwe.

Moliati said as he waits for the updating he is spending much time training as he awaits an update.

“I am working hard in the gym to maintain shape and also improve on technique. I want to impress and build myself up on the continent,” he said. n
