World Vision Malawi (WVM) has urged parents to train their children in sanitation, hygiene and health to enable them take care of themselves as they grow old.

WVM coordinator responsible for child well–being project in Chamba Area Development Programme (ADP), Machinga John Jimu made the call at Chamba Primary School during a health open-day to drill parents.

The event also provided an opportunity to children who are benefitting from the organisation to interact, share experiences and meals.

Quoting Proverbs 22:6, Jimu said children are God’s gift and, therefore, need to be groomed in His ways. He said cleanliness prevents premature deaths from diseases.

“Let us remember that the future belongs to these children. We need to give them enough support for them to realise their full potential,” he said.

Traditional Authority (TA) Chamba commended WVM for the financial and material support the organisation gives to the needy children in his area.
