World Vision Malawi (WVM), one of the faith-based organisations in the country, recently donated assorted medical equipment to Zomba Central Hospital (ZCH).

The donated items included anaesthesia breathing circuits, arthroscopy packs, catheters, forceps, gloves, crutches, tweezers, mattresses, blankets, syringes, endotracheal tubes and sterilisers, among others.

Speaking at the presentation of the donation, WVM program officer for Zomba, Jacob Mazibuko, said his organisation decided to supply the hospital with the equipment after noting that the facility has shortages.

“Our organisation appreciates efforts that referral hospitals such as ZCH render to the society. But despite the good services they render, most hospitals are running on inadequate equipment,” he said.

Mazibuko expressed hope that the donated items would reduce problems the facility faced.

ZCH principal administrator, Fredson Kambeni, thanked WVM for the intervention, which he said was timely and helpful to the hospital.
