Zambian artist Chimzy Kelly of Malonda ndi Kumbuyo fame has been billed to perform at Likoma Festival at Likoma Island from April 3 to April 5.

According to Thokozani Kamangira, chairman of the organizing committee of the festival, the Zambian artist will arrive in the country tomorrow along with two band members from Zambia.

“He will be backed by a band that will perform at the festival. He has assured us that he is prepared to give his fans a memorable performance,” said Kamangira.

On other logistics, he said that Illala will be the only vessel to ferry revelers to and from the Island, but said buses have been hired to get people to the Nkhatabay.

“People should not worry because we have chartered the ship exclusively for the festival and they will have an exciting cruise on deck since DJs will be playing all the way to the island,” he said.

“We are impressed with ticket sales. It has given us the encouragement that indeed we are going to have a festival,” said Kamangira.

The festival will also have Mlaka Maliro, Piksy, Nepman, Martse, Stitch Fray, Barry One, Daredevils, Mafo and Young Kay among others.

The show festival has been pegged at K35 000, including transport from Blantyre or Lilongwe and accomodation. n
