Mkanda is back in Maputo where his club Liga Desportivo de Maputo have a crucial league game this weekend, hence been ruled out of the Flames trip to Egypt for Monday’s friendly match in Cairo.

Chamangwana was yesterday diplomatic when asked if Mkanda would be recalled for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Zimbabwe at Kamuzu Stadium next weekend.

“That will depend on the performance of strikers Atusaye Nyondo and Esau Kanyenda who are in camp. I think all players who were part of Cosafa squad impressed,” Chamangwana claimed.

On Tuesday, Mkanda said he was not told whether he would be recalled for the Zimbabwe game.

“I do not know…. they did not tell me anything,” said Mkanda in an interview.  
